Things to do in Scarborough
What to do today? Here is a list of things to do in Scarborough. Its not a complete list and feel free to add your favourite Scarborough Attraction or day out.
Scarborough Sea Life Centre - great day out for the family although can be a little pricey. Many local businesses sometimes have vouchers for reduced admission…ask us if we have!!
Scarborough Castle - who says history isn’t fun? Boasting some of the best views of Scarborough you can take a picnic, your kite and your frisbee and make a day of it. You can read here why its a great Scarborough attraction.
Scarborough Beach - why have one when you can have 2? The North Bay is great for surfing, swimming, jetskiing, rockpooling, sun bathing and generally having a great time. Winner of the coveted Blue Flag Award. You can also have donkey rides on the South Bay but is generally more crowded on a sunny day.
Peasholm Park – nature walk, boating lake and home of the famous Naval Warfare -tranquil and laid back area set just behind North Bay apart from once a week when the Naval battle re-enactments take place..
North Bay mini railway - Probably one of our nearly 3 year old son’s favourite things to do in Scarborough. Runs from Peasholm park, through the open air theatre, to the Sea Life Centre.
The Spa & Suncourt - relive the Victorian age by taking in a cream tea and concert (in the summer months) in the Suncourt
Oliver’s Mount viewpoint and racetrack - easily the best views of Scarborough…and you can get a coffee in the cafe too!!
Futurist Theatre - home to some of the big name shows on the South Bay seafront. The Beatles famously played here.
North Bay Open Air Theatre - brand new 6500 capacity open air facility is an exciting development for Scarborough. Her Majesty the Queen opened the theatre and Jose Carreras and Kiri Te Kanawa played on the opening night. Add this to your things to do in Scarborough by clicking the link.
Stephen Joseph Theatre - theatre and cinema, although more likely to be showing a leftfield film rather than the latest Hollywood blockbuster. Sir Alan Ayckbourn still premiers his plays here in his home town.
YMCA theatre - lovely intimate theatre that regular puts on local “that was a lot better than I expected!!” shows..
South Bay Speedboats - take a hair raising and sometimes soaking trip round the south bay…
Donkey rides & amusements - what trip to Scarborough would be complete if you didn’t don your “kiss me quick” hat, grab some candy floss, have a ride on a donkey and spend next month’s mortgage payments in the amusements? I’ll meet you near the 2p pushers…:o)
Seal Trips - yes!! real seals…take a trip to say hello to Scarborough’s marine locals
Surfing - fast becoming recognised as one of the UK’s top spots outside Cornwall, Scarborough surfing has never been better. Great for beginners due to the sandy bottom and challenging for the experts too. Check out the Scarborough surf forecast on our Scarborough Weather page
Rock pooling and crabbing - I’ve caught one!!! look!! some great rock pools on the North Bay or head to South Bay for some hot crabbing action. Tackle and bait available everywhere.
Sea Fishing - always wanted to catch your own tea?? you can! Plenty of opportunities either from the harbour wall or boat. Trips start at around £20pp for a 4 hour trip and include your tackle and bait.
Playzone - large soft play and activity are for children only 10 minutes walk from our holiday flats. Gets very busy in wet weather..
Art Gallery - often showing local artists work and normally has a large collection of locally themed works…well worth a visit.
Ramblers groups - Keen walker? Discover our area like you never did before! Beautiful landscape and lovely people!
